First Look at Arrow’s Suicide Squad!

February 21st, 2014 by Edwin Torres Jr Comments

The Suicide Squad is unleashed on Arrow next month and thanks to CBR we get our first look the fully assembled team.

As seen in the image above, the government-formed group will consist of Ben Turner aka Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White), Mark Scheffer aka Shrapnel (Sean Maher), Floyd Lawton aka Deadshot (Michael Rowe), Lyla Michaels (Audrey Marie Anderson), Amanda Waller (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) and series regular John Diggle (Davis Ramsey)

The team’s arrival was foreshadowed earlier in the second season of Arrow with the debut of Waller as Director of A.R.G.U.S., like her New 52 counterpart, and her recruitment of Bronze Tiger in January’s episode “Tremors.”

Arrow executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed earlier this month:

“Dig was our way into Amanda Waller, and in this episode, Amanda comes to Dig and Lyla, and she recruits Dig for a mission, and tells him he’s going to need a team — and she saddles him with the Suicide Squad.”

Also known as Task Force X, the Suicide Squad have been in DC Comics in many different forms since 1959. The team set to be featured on Arrow bears some resemblance to the more modern iteration of the team introduced by writer John Ostrander. Both squads are led by Amanda Waller and offer imprisoned supervillains the chance to take on black-ops missions for the government, in exchange for shorter prison sentences. Bronze Tiger and Deadshot were both in Ostrander’s original Suicide Squad team. Shrapnel, Clock King and Count Vertigo have also served as members.

The Suicide Squad episode of Arrow is scheduled to air on March 19th.
