First official image of Tom Hardy in Mad Max: Fury Road

September 5th, 2013 by Edwin Torres Jr Comments

Warner Bros. have released the first official still of Mad Max: Fury Road, an image that was previously seen as a low-res pic.

We’ve also got a bit of bad news. Despite filming having wrapped already, George Miller isn’t done with work on the film quite yet. Inside Film reports that Miller will conduct three more weeks of additional filming at his home base in Sydney, Australia starting November 22nd. Some of the cast are returning to reprise their roles and casting agents are currently looking for extras with “odd, idiosyncratic faces” to participate as well.

“Mad Max: Fury Road”–the fourth in the franchise’s history–stars Tom Hardy (“The Dark Knight Rises”) in the title role of Max Rockatansky, alongside Oscar(R) winner Charlize Theron (“Monster”, “Prometheus”) as Imperator Furiosa. According to Miller, “Mad Max is caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa. This movie is an account of the Road War which follows. It is based on the Word Burgers of the History Men and eyewitness accounts of those who survived.”

The film boasts a large ensemble cast that includes Tom Hardy as the titular Max along with Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Nathan Jones, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Courtney Eaton, Josh Helman, Jennifer Hagan, iOTA, John Howard, Richard Carter, Megan Gale, Angus Sampson, Joy Smithers, Gillian Jones, Melissa Jaffer and Melita Jurisic.

Warner Bros. have not set a release date beyond a 2014 release date.
