Game of Thrones actor Ed Skrein is the new Transporter in the reboot

February 11th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

We knew the Transporter franchise would be taking the reboot route, but now Variety reports that Ed Skrein will be driving it there in the  lead role of Frank Martin.

Skrein, who was in Game Of Thrones as Daario Naharis (replaced by Michael Huisman) will play a younger version of Frank Martin. The reboot will serve as an origin story.

Although plot details are still kept under wraps, EuropaCorp CEO Christophe Lambert said the first installment of Transporter reboot will return to the French Riviera, the location of the first film. He said the writers have given more depth to the character of Frank Martin, and the movie will explore Martin’s relationship with his father, whose role will be played by a prominent actor.

Lambert spoke about the Frank Martin casting:

“We searched everywhere to find a fresh face who had the potential to become an action movie star and we’ve found the right match with Ed Skrein, who’s not only a great actor but also has enough charisma and physical stamina to play Frank Martin with brio.”

Bill Collage and Adam Cooper are writing the script, and will be helmed by Camille Delamarre who edited Transporter 3.
