Microsoft and Lionhead Studios announced a new entry in the Fable franchise at Gamescom today.Fable Legends is coming exclusively to the Xbox One.
The game was announced by director David Eckelberry, and while it’s not Fable 4, it’s a fully-fledged entry in the series. Set during Albion’s age of heroes, 400 years before the events of the first Fable, it pits groups of up to four players against a villain character who controls the enemies. Players can play four player co-op or with AI companions.
Each hero has different skills, the trailer shows a charming rogue type character who’s crafty with a sword, a veteran archer, a female fighter, and a magic wielder. But here’s the awesome part, there’s another player, who controls the villain, viewing the map from a bird’s eye perspective and placing enemies and setting traps, and more for the four heroes to confront
Fable Legends makes full use of the Xbox One’s cloud capabilities, and so will only be playable online. The game also integrates Microsoft’s SmartGlass technology, allowing the villain to play using a second screen similar to the Wii U.
Maybe this game will revitalize the once promising franchise.
There was no release date given, but it’s not a launch title.
