Gamescom Presentations: Microsoft

August 4th, 2015 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Microsoft logo.

Given that Sony have decided not to attend Gamescom in favour of Paris Games week, Xbox had to capitalise on this opportunity to shine. They took the ball and ran with it, we got a beautiful looking tech demo of the graphical possibilities of Direct X 12 and Windows 10.

They also revealed the next stages of xbox TV which will allow you not only to use your XBone as a DVR  and stream the shows you record to any connected device. This is a free service so if you’re paying for a service like that with with your cable provider you might want to do the maths on this.

Backwards compatibility will be expanded to 100’s of titles and from now on all the Games with Gold giveaways will be backwards compatible meaning XBone live users will be getting 4 free games a month!

Any way on to the games covered.

SCALEBOUND

Scalebound is an RPG, you faff about a huge sci-fi/fantasy world on the back of a dragon, wrecking the bad guys days. Nice!

Shades of Monster Hunter about it too. This is not a bad thing 🙂 I think Scalebound is going on the 2016 Xmas shopping list!

.

FIFA 16: Ultimate Teams Legends
The leading sportsball franchise was mainly being used to promote EA Access with 10% off if you subscribe to it, a dlc character for 3 days and other I wouldn’t but Sportsball/EA just not my thing There was also some horse excrement about player chemistry
.

.
Rise of the Tomb Raider
They showed a new gameplay Video for the new Tomb Raider, it looks to play nearly exactly like the last one, which is not a bad thing However it was definitely more aggressive looking, with Lara dispatching what I hope were bad guys in pretty brutal fashion which has caused some consternation among fans of the previous title.
