John Leguizamo would love to be the The Joker

August 5th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Desde Hollywood recently got a chance to talk with Latino actor John Leguizamo. They asked him now that Batman is getting a reboot, would he like to follow in the footsteps of Cesar Romero by being a Latino Jokerin a future Batman movie:

“Just because I have to represent my Latin people. It’s crazy. I went to Comic-Con and 50% were Latin, Black and Asian. I said ‘Come on! We are so underrepresented and we support the whole industry.’

Don’t get too excited yet as it sounds like the Kick-Ass 2 star is set on taking a break from superhero and science fiction movie for the time being, although that doesn’t mean he pass on the role if offered:

” I am not against comic-book movies. I just feel that I have seen enough zombies, vampires and apocalyptic comic-book super heroes in my lifetime. I want to see real people on screen for a while. But hell yeah, I would do Batman. The Joker would be a blast!”

Leguizamo was terrific as the hellish clown Violator in the Spawn movie and he would surely take the Dark Knight’s nemesis in a different direction, away from Ledger’s take.

What do you guys think? Would Leguizamo be a good choice to play Joker?
