Most will know Judd Apatow as a writer on such movies as Pineapple Express and This is 40, but now he’s hitting the big time with a script he wrote years ago finally getting made into an episode of The Simpsons…
The Simpsons is notoriously difficult to get writing on and the idea of a spec-script is almost unheard of, but Apatow has made the grade.
Written before his name was almost a household one, the script will be aired on January 11th in the US on Fox and is called Bart’s New Friend.
Talking to TV Guide, Apatow said: “I have always been fascinated with how difficult it is to grow up. It’s a pretty rough script and when I reread it I wasn’t exactly glowing with pride… [but] putting [the creative team’s] brilliant spin on something I wrote back when I was a dreamer, was one of the greatest days of my life. These are legends!”
Just goes to show if you really believe in something…
“Bart’s New Friend” airs January 11th on Fox.
