Lee Pace is the villain in Guardians of the Galaxy

April 23rd, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Lee Pace (The Hobbit) is in final negotiations to play the villain in Disney and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.

The identity of Pace’s villain character is unknown.  But just yesterday we learned that Ophelia Lovibond was joining the film as an aide to the Collector. Today we get this news, one would assume Pace will be playing Taneleer Tivan, AKA the Collector. Although the Collector may not be the only choice as he may not even be a villain. The Controller was also rumored to pay a role in the movie. Thanos is also an option, an unlikely one, but still an option.

The cast in addition to Lovibond currently features, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, WWE star Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer and Michael Rooker as Yondu. No word yet on Rocket Raccon or Groot.

Production starts in June and Disney will release the film on Aug. 1, 2014.

Last year Pace’s name was mentioned as one of several actors being considered to play the hero Peter Quill, aka Star Lord. Pratt ultimately won that role but Marvel was so impressed with Pace’s audition that they kept him in mind when it came time to cast the villain.

Who do think he is playing?
