October 11th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Marvel’s Daredevil, the first of their upcoming Netflix shows, has just revealed it’s official concept art by Marvel Chief Creative Officer and legendary artist Joe Quesada.

If you read Daredevil: Man Without Fear (1993) by Frank Miller and John Romita, Jr., it might seem a bit familiar to you. Matt Murdock will likely don his more iconic costume later in the series, or perhaps in The Defenders.

Below are some pics from the 1993 series.

Updated with first official photos and some new casting news:

Marvel’s Daredevil is a live action series that follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock, who in a tragic accident was blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen, New York where he now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked vigilante at night.

The cast includes Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Peter Shinkoda as original character Hachiro, Scott Glann as Stick, and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple aka Night Nurse.

The newly announced additions to the cast are: Bob Gunton as Leland Owlsely aka The Owl, an enigmatic and key figure in Wilson Fisk’s crusade to remake Hells Kitchen. Vondie Curtis Hall will play Ben Urich, an investigative journalist at the New York Bulletin who’ll soon find himself drawn into a war for the soul of Hell’s Kitchen. Ayelet Zurer will play Vanessa Marianna, an art dealer whose chance meeting with Wilson Fisk dramatically changes their lives. Toby Leonard Moore will play Wesley, right-hand man and confidante to Wilson Fisk.

Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television on the new cast additions:

“These are four of the most important roles in “Marvel’s Daredevil” and we’ve assembled actors worthy of each iconic role. Ayelet, Bob, Vondie and Toby each brign a unique charisma and power to the roles, making it immediately clear why each of their characters is so vital to the war for Hell’s Kitchen.”

Daredevil is executive produced by series showrunner Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Angel) and Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods, Lost, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, in addition to writing the first two episodes of Daredevil), along with Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Smallville, Heroes).

Daredevil is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.
