Multiverse of Madness writer reveals he’s already working on Kevin Feige’s Star Wars movie

May 10th, 2022 by Marc Comments

We reported in January last year – although it feels like a lifetime ago at this stage – that Marvel boss Kevin Feige was producing a Star Wars movie and it would be penned by Rick & Morty and Loki’s Michael Waldon – he has since penned Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness but we didn’t know that at the time.

Now, we have the news that even though Feige’s movie is still around five years away, writing has already begun.

“Obviously, I’m kind of busy, off writing this little Star Wars movie,” Waldron has said during the press tour for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

He added: “The sheer canvas for ‘Star Wars’ is quite literally all of space and all of time … there are just infinite possibilities … I’m excited to be working in that world”

We guess this means they’re ensuring it’s the right movie for Marvel’s head to put his name to.

And, while there have been issues with Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Waldon is a fun writer and his grasp of Star Wars seems pretty solid, with previously saying of the franchise: “Star Wars, at its best, is a story about family. Han, Luke, and Leia were a family; you love seeing them together, and you hated it when they were split apart. It’s great characters. That’s nothing new. I am not going to blow anybody’s mind with that headline — but that’s my biggest takeaway.”

Hmmmmmmmm… it’s a pity he didn’t tell Disney that the fans hated seeing Han, Luke and Leia split apart as, had they known, we might have got a very different – and maybe better – sequel trilogy.

With Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron still set for Christmas 2023 and then Taika Waititi’s Star Wars after that, we’re not expecting to hear too much about Feige’s entry any time soon but as soon as we do, so will you all.
