A huge theme park news coming down today as Nintendo and Universal Parks & Resorts announce a partnership to bring the video game giant’s characters and worlds to Universal Studios theme parks.

Businesswire is reporting that not only will the characters be hitting Universal parks, but that we can look forward to dedicated Nintendo experiences. We’re not just talking a guy in a Mario suit taking pictures with fans or a retail store. We are talking major attractions here.

Nothing specific has been announced as creative teams for the two media giants are hard at work coming up with actual concepts.

But be on the lookout for some huge set pieces and rides though, as Universal is known to create huge, immersive experiences, not just simple rides. The possibilities are endless using the intellectual property of a brand like Nintendo whose iconic characters and universes have captured the imaginations of millions for almost four decades now.

Stick with FTN as we’ll be rolling out more details as the story breaks.

In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
