NYCC 2013: Two pivotal characters revealed for The Walking Dead

October 13th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

On the night before The Walking Dead’s Season 4 premiere, AMC has revealed that Josh McDermitt has been cast in the role of Eugene Porter.

“We’re going to tell a version of the Eugene, Abraham and Rosita comic stories, that’s what we do. I love those characters from the book, they are very different flavors of comic book characters than we’ve seen on the show. We’re going to be exploring a lot of different locations. We’re at the prison the first two episodes. We start looking at other places in episode three on but that isn’t even tied with them yet.”

Michael Cudlitz joining him as Army Sgt. Abraham Ford. Eugene is a former science teacher who travels with Sgt. Ford and Rosita (Christian Serratos), and claims to know the source of the zombie outbreak.

According to Cudlitz:

“Abraham is someone who comes with a lot of emotional baggage. And he’s on a mission. There’s no guarantee of how long or how short it will be, which is one of the things I actually find pretty exciting about the job after being locked into Southland for so many years. But [Abraham] is very important in the comic, so I imagine even if it IS short, it’ll be bright.”

Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman, The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Chandler Riggs, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Melissa McBride, Chad Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green, Emily Kinney, Larry Gilliard Jr., David Morrissey and Danai Gurira.

The Walking Dead returns Sunday, October 13 at 9/8c on AMC.
