RUMOR: Is this unknown actress up for a role in Star Wars: Episode VII?

April 10th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Could an Oxford-educated actress with no movie credits to her name land a key role in Star Wars: Episode VII? Star Wars has a thing for unknowns and according to The Hollywood Reporter Maisie Richarsdon-Sellers is in line to nab an undisclosed and possibly major role according to several sources. The trade does add that no offer has been made though.

Episode VII is in the middle of an extended casting search in London in advance of a May production start date. Just last week Alan Horn revealed casting for the film was almost complete and some shooting had taken place.

One of the roles that we keep hearing about is a young African American or mixed-race woman who may be a descendent of Jedi Knight Ben Kenobi.

Star Wars: Episode VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams from a script that he wrote with Lawrence Kasdan. The movie will focus on a new generation of heroes and could include appearances by Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in older versions of their iconic characters from the original Star Wars trilogy. The film is set to begin shooting in May of 2014 and will hit theaters on December 18th, 2015.
