RUMOR: Next Hulk film to be based on Indestructible Hulk?

July 16th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

It’s a given that after the praise Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk got in The Avengers, that one day Marvel will make another stand-alone Hulk film. The problem would be how to approach it. Earlier in the year Latino Review said they would take a Planet Hulk route. Marvel was quick to shoot this down, saying that they did not hire Ruffalo to a multi-film deal only to have a movie where he only stays the Hulk.

There may have found another way to tackle the problem. According to The Daily SuperHero of CBM, who’s source is apparently closely plugged into Marvel movie development process, the next Hulk sequel might be based on some of the specific ideas found in Marvel NOW’s Indestructible Hulk  comic.

For those who are not familiar with the Indestructible Hulk comic, the basic premise is that Hulk is an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Banner feels he has been neglecting to give back to society in the form of invention so he approaches S.H.I.E.L.D. and makes a deal. In exchange for a state of the art lab and later a staff, S.H.I.E.L.D. gets to “point and aim” the Hulk whenever needed. So basically they’ve got a Hulk.

It makes sense with the way the Marvel cinematic Universe is using S.H.I.E.L.D. as a central focus. This would also allow Ruffalo his screen time and perhaps put the Hulk at odds with The Avengers.

What do you think of this rumor?
