RUMOR: Rashida Jones as the Wasp in Ant-Man?

October 19th, 2013 by Edwin Torres Jr Comments

It was just this week that it was rumored that Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were the frontrunners to star in Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man. well now another rumor has surfaced. According to Superhero Movie News, Rashida Jones is being eyed to play Ant-Man’s wife and partner, Janet Van Dyne, aka The Wasp:

“Janet will be a love interest and a major supporting character,” a source tells the site. “We would see multiple references to her future as The Wasp throughout the film.”

The pairing of Rudd and Jones makes total sense; they’ve exhibited a lot of chemistry in two previous movies, “I Love You, Man” and “Our Idiot Brother.”

Of course, this is all still just rumor. But Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige spoke to The Huffington Post about why Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s name comes up so much in Marvel movie rumors:

“Well, sometimes it’s because we are legitimately talking, and sometimes it’s just because he’s a prominent actor out there now. And lots of rumors surround prominent actors.”

The interesting part is in the same interview he did allude to the possibility of Rudd as Ant-Man:

“Well, nothing is true yet. I like Paul Rudd, too.”

So what do you think this means for Ant-Man? What do you think of the possibility of Rashida Jones as The Wasp?

Wright is directing from a script that he has co-written with Joe Cornish (Attack the Block). The film, which will launch Marvel’s Phase Three, will hit theaters on July 31st, 2015.
