The Hollywood News is reporting that Austin Powers writer Michael McCullers will be penning the script for Shrek 5.
After co-writing all three Powers scripts with Mike Myers, he then wrote and directed the Tina Fey-starring Baby Mama, and was recently tapped to write the Adam Sandler-led animated threequel, Hotel Transylvania 3.
The news broke after Trolls’ directors Walt Dohrn and Mike Mitchell were interviewed on another subject by the trade.
“They’ve got a pretty good story [for Shrek 5],” they said. “It’s being written by Michael McCullers who wrote all of the Austin Powers films. He came up with a really great idea that they’re exploring.”
While Mitchell and Dorn are not yet confirmed to be involved in the project, Dorn revealed: “There’s more story to tell there and we’re ready to help tell it for sure.”
