Spartacus actor Nick Tarabay joins Arrow as Captain Boomerang

September 17th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

According to Entertainment Weekly, Spartacus actor Nick Tarabay will play the role of George “Digger” Harkness aka Captain Boomerang on the third season of The CW’s Arrow.

The multi-episode role is described as:

“a former A.R.G.U.S operative, highly skilled in martial arts and espionage, with a deadly thirst for vengeance against his former employers.”

Tarabay will make his debut in the seventh episode and then return for the eighth, which is the Arrow half of the upcoming Arrow and The Flash two-hour crossover event.

Created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino, Captain Boomerang made his first appearance in 1960′s “The Flash” #117. As a young adult, he was hired as a performer and boomerang promoter by a toy company. Audiences ridiculed him, and a resentful Harkness turned to a life of crime.

He is a member of The Rogues, a group of villains dedicated to opposing Flash, and has also been a member of Suicide Squad. Captain Boomerang carries a number of boomerangs on his person, and is an expert at throwing them. In addition to ordinary boomerangs he has a number with special properties, including bladed, explosive, incendiary, and electrified ones.

Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8 P.M. ET/PT on The CW. The new season will premiere on October 8th.
