Spartacus star joins Hercules 3D

April 23rd, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher 1 Comment

The Hollywood Reporter says Liam McIntyre, the actor, who starred in Starz’s Spartacus: War of the Damned, has been cast in a leading role in Renny Harlin’s Hercules 3D (not to be confused with the other Hercules starring Dwayne Johnson). Kellan Lutz is playing the role of Hercules and McIntyre will play a young army captain who becomes Hercules’ most trusted battlefield companion. After an evil king deceives them, Hercules and the captain are sold into slavery and must fight side by side to earn their freedom.

Director Harlin had only good things to say about the latest addition to his cast:

“He’s infinitely entertaining to watch. I am lucky to have him play military commander, Sotiris, Hercules’ best friend. Their relationship begins antagonistic and develops into a close bond, forged in battle.”

This is a pretty major role for McIntyre as it will be his first Hollywood feature film. This is also the first work since the Australian actor concluded his starring run on Spartacus, which he took over after the late Andy Whitfield, the original Spartacus, was diagnosed with cancer.

What do you think about the two Hercules movies so far?
