SPOILERS: Star Wars: Episode VIII round-up

It’s been a pretty busy few days regarding Star Wars: Episode VIII news so let’s get to it.

First up is word that Yoda could be making an appearance in Rian Johnston’s movie. A Reddit user recently attended Star Wars Celebration and while there, had a picture taken next to a Yoda puppet at the Saving Yoda display.

He/she went on to say: “One of the many stalls featured at the convention was Saving Yoda, ran by one of the original team operating Yoda in ESB. While waiting to have my photo taken with the Yoda puppet, the dude running it was talking to another guy. The random guy asked which Yoda puppet was currently on display.

“In response, we were all told that the one on display was puppet 2 (I think, I can’t quite remember exactly). He looked at both of us, and said that members of the original Yoda team have been called in to work on Episode 8, using the Yoda 8 puppet, as they’d all recently been talking about it. He’d have no reason to lie.”

Whilst any person could randomly make this sort of stuff up, ‘Making Star Wars’ recently posted a rumour that Frank Oz had been to Pinewood Studios in the UK for “work, not pleasure”. So there ya go….

Next up, Donald Glover has been talking about his love of Star Wars as rumours continue that he will play Lando Calrissian in the Han Solo standalone movie.

Speaking to Time Magazine, the actor, who most recently was seen in Community and The Martian, said: “Yep, there are rumours“… and like that he said no more. However, he did reveal his love of the franchise.

“I mean, I grew up on it,” he said. “My dad was a big fan. I had all the toys when I was little. I had a Darth Vader with the lightsaber he has. It was cool. It’s a dynasty. It’s like the bible. I love that franchise.”

Filming on the Han Solo standalone begins in early 2017.

So who wants to see Princess Leia confront her son Kylo Ren over the death of Han Solo? Yep…. me too!

Well, if the next rumour is true then we may well be getting what we wish for but once again take this with a pinch of salt.

According to Reddit user ‘SpaceBearLeak’, Leia will be captured by the First Order and come face-to-face with her son. An argument will ensue between mother and son over Han’s skills as a father and husband.

While this may sound like something from a daytime soap opera it would be great to see Carrie Fisher chew up some scenery a little more than she did in The Force Awakens.

Finally, it looks like Mark Hamill will survive Episode VIII and come back for the final instalment in this sequel trilogy.

In a surprise Twitter video, the actor had his beard shaved off with the enticing hashtag message ‘Haven’t seen my chin since May ’15, so #FarewellFacialFur &#ByeByeBeard (at least til #EpisodeIX)’.
