Tennant and Smith look good together…. PLUS return of the Zygons (pics inside)

Forget Han, Leia and Luke coming back kids, the big news of the month is the return of the tenth Doctor and Rose, David Tennant and Billie Piper to Doctor Who for the 50th anniversary special which apparently will be 90 minutes long. Just right too.

Subscribers to the Doctor Who Magazine, which is due out this week, got their copies five days early by mistake and there in the pages of the news section was the announcement of the big return.

And coincidentally the first pics of Tennant and Smith side by side with scripts in hand were released by BBC Twitter. They then released a second with the gorgeous Jenna Louise Coleman (confirming she will live beyond the season finale) and guest star Joanna Page from Gavin and Stacey. NOW, exactly what part she’s plating is a mystery, as is the role that guest star Alien chestburster himself, John Hurt are playing.

Rumour is he’s been recast as the third Doctor but can’t see it myself. Fandom went into meltdown. Computer screens and tablets were scrutinized to see what was written on the front of the script but to no avail.

Then came another surprise. Photos from the location shoot revealed every fan’s dream. The Zygons are back. Fans including myself have wanted them back for years. They only appeared against the 4th Doctor, Tom Baker, with their pet, the Loch Ness Monster.

These shape shifting sneaky lot’s embryo like design has barely been touched and they look even scarier. But why is a Zygon in a ruined castle? What is the tenth Doctor’s Tardis doing near a tent. The appearance of his Tardis seems to put paid to the idea that the Doctor and Rose we meet will be from the parallel universe.

However, there was a deleted scene where our Doctor gave them a piece of Tardis to grow their own. So it may be that we will see them at a point when they were travelling together. It is a time travel show after all. But whatever else is going to be revealed, (Paul McGann please) I think we can safely say we’ve been lied to for months but oh,what a beautiful lie. Allons Y!!!!!!
