The Crow flies again with Luke Evans!

May 4th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

According to deadline The Crow will fly with Welsh actor Luke Evans playing the title role in the franchise reboot for Relativity Media. Apparently Evans was the original choice, but he has been incredibly busy. He was just cast as the lead in Dracula Year Zero, he is the villain in Fast 6 and is Bard the Bowman in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Evans seemed to be unavailable because of production on Dracula and promotion on The Hobbit. They looked at Tom Hiddleston and and Alexander Skarsgard but eventually decided to have decided to push the start date to early next year to accommodate his schedule.

Spanish filmmaker F. Javier Gutierrez (Before the Fall) is directing the film from a script by Cliff Dorfman (Warrior). Production is tentatively scheduled to begin this fall. The Crow is based on James O’Barr’s comic book series of the same name, which was already adapted into a series of films. According to Relativity Media, the upcoming reboot looks to offer yet another gritty take on the story of Eric Draven, a man who returns from the grave to avenge the murder of his wife.

Many feel the property should be left alone (I do!).
