Production has officially started this week for The Fantastic Four reboot, and now according to The Hollywood Reporter actor Reg E. Cathey (The Wire) has joined the cast of the film as Dr. Franklin Storm, the father of Sue (Kate Mara) and Johnny Storm (Michael B. Jordan).
Accused of murder and thought to be dead in the first volume of the comic series, Dr. Storm actually operated on and saved his daughter’s life when she suffered a life threatening injury at the hands of the Mole Man. Following his actual death just one issue later, Sue and Reed named their first child Franklin after him. In Marvel’s “Ultimate” universe, however, Dr. Storm is partially responsible for the creation of the Fantastic Four. Could we be seeing this version of the character on the big screen?
The cast for Fantastic Four includes Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell as the main heroes, with Toby Kebbell playing the villain, Victor von Doom, and Tim Blake Nelson as Harvey Elder aka Mole Man.
Josh Trank will direct the big screen adaptation from a screenplay by Simon Kinberg.
The Fantastic Four is currently set for a release on June 19th, 2015.
