Disney’s live action remake of Dumbo looks set to add Tom Hanks to the acting roster.
The Forrest Gump star is believed to be in talks to play the villainous Ringmaster. Will Smith, it was reported a few days ago, is also in talks for an as-of-yet unspecified role in Tim Burton’s adaptation.
The addition of Smith to the film however could put any plans for a new Bad Boys film into jeopardy.
According to Variety, if Smith takes the lead role in Dumbo, it will definitely delay Joe Carnahan’s movie. They then go onto say that it could cause the sequel to be ‘shelved entirely’.
Though it has had its release date bumped a few times already, Sony Pictures set Bad Boys 3 with a 12 January 2018 release date. It won’t hit that mark if Smith takes on his Disney role instead, as shooting would overlap, and Dumbo becomes the priority.
