UPDATED MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Avengers assemble to grant a cancer-stricken man’s dying wish

May 16th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Sophie Caldecott wrote a post a couple days ago explaining that that her father, Stratford Caldecott is diagnosed with cancer. He’s a huge comic book fan, he can be seen above dressed as Stark for his 60th birthday.

He wants to see Captain America: The Winter Soldier, as he loves all the Marvel films, but was unable to go to go to a theater because he’s in the final stages of the disease. She heart breakingingly writes that the dvd release, currently set for August, may be too late. The doctors only give Stratford 12 weeks left to live. So Sophie’s mission has become how to get her father to see Winter Soldier.

Then she had an idea:

“Dad is about to face the biggest challenge of his life. Death is the greatest, most frightening adventure of them all. He is one of the good guys, worthy of superhero status himself. As Agent Coulson would say, it’s time to call for back up – let’s give him the send off he deserves.

If you have Twitter and want to get involved, please help us by tweeting this blog post to the Avengers actors, asking them to help brighten up a hero with cancer’s last days. Thank you!”
