The Hollywood Reporter got a chance to ask Vin Diesel about playing Groot in James Gunn’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy. He doesn’t say much but reveals something even more interesting about Marvel’s Phase 3 plans:
“What we were initially talking about was a fresh IP,” says Diesel, “and that was the focus of our conversation. A fresh IP that would come out in 2016 or 2017 to potentially launch a third phase. When we went to Comic-Con, we realized that we wanted something more immediate.”
Diesel does reveal in addition to doing the voice of Groot he will be doing the mocap work as well. If the deal gets done, that is.
So what intellectual property was Diesel speaking with Marvel about? Thoughts?
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is set for August 1st, 2014.
