WATCH: First look at Rebel hunter Agent Kallus from Star Wars Rebels

July 10th, 2014 by Marc Comments

While we know that The Inquisitor is the main villain in Star Wars Rebels, we also know he can’t do everything alone… and that’s where his second in command, Agent Kallus, comes in.

The character, voiced by David Oyelowo, is the one who, according to producer Dave Filoni, gets in and gets his hands dirty. He also rocks an absolutely amazing set of sideburns: “We definitely wanted to capture that ’70s feeling that was so strong in A New Hope,” says Filoni in the video below.

“Art director Kilian Plunkett and I looked at a lot of reference to try and make that influence fit into ‘Rebels.’ At one point we had [Rebel pilot] Zeb in bell bottoms.”

Star Wars Rebels is set between the events of Episode III and IV, an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen. It takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape.

Starring a small band of heroes: Sabine, Kanan, Hera, Ezra, Zeb, and Chopper.

Star Wars Rebels will be produced by Lucasfilm Animation, featuring many of the key talents that made Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It’s executive produced by Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, and Greg Weisman, is scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel and will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
