WATCH: Mysterious new image and video teases Godzilla trailer

December 9th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

So it’s been announced that this Tuesday, December 10th, Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures will premiere the Godzilla trailer at 10 a.m. Pacific/1 p.m. Eastern. To go along with that we have this new viral image above of Turkmenistan’s infamous burning “Door to Hell” from Total Film.

It was first ignited by a Soviet gas company in 1971. They claimed the dangerous gases would burn off in a few days, yet miraculously it has been burning ever since. It seems the secretive group identified as M.U.T.O. established a heavily-guarded “restricted access area” for undisclosed purposes at the site.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have revealed a new viral site for the film, MutoResearch.net, which includes a teaser video that you can watch below.

“An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.”

Gareth Edwards is directing the film from a screenplay by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont and Dave Callaham.

The movie stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, Bryan Cranston, and Sally Hawkins.

Godzilla is expected to rampage into theaters on May 16th, 2014.
