Man, that was a quick week!
As promised (here), writer/director/star Kevin Smith has delivered the trailer for Clerks III and, despite some of my misgivings, it looks absolutely great!
Picking up ten years after Clerks II, the movie follows Dante (Brian O’Halloran), Randall (Jeff Anderson), Becky (Rosario Dawson) and Elia (Trevor Fehrman) who finally seemed to all have their shift together after the events of the second movie.
But of course, it’s never that simple. Reflecting real-life events, Smith wrote this script after his own heart attack and decided to have Randall have a heart attack, reflect on his wasted life and finally do something that will leave a mark on the world. And, honestly, it looks like a real return to what made Smith’s movies relatable and so special in the first place, with lots of fun nods to the past including Ben Affleck appearing, the threat of being sued by Disney and a nod to Dante’s death in the original script for Clerks… longtime fans will get it.
No release date for sure yet, but it’s coming this Fall and we can’t wait. Nootch.
In Clerks III, following a massive heart attack, Randal enlists Dante, Elias, Jay and Silent Bob to make a movie immortalizing his life at the convenience store that started it all.
