24 Jump Street written, Tatum and Hill in talks to return as Schmidt and Jenko

Could it be?! Are Schmidt and Jenko really coming back??!

Well, it seems that yes, Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube are all in talks to return for a third Jump Street movie, called 24 Jump Street.

Wait, 24 Jump Street? What happened 23 Jump Street? Well, the script, left, notes that “It took so long to make we had to skip one.” This is clearly a nod to the fact that the last movie, 22 Jump Street, was in 2014! God God, how time flies.

As of now, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, along with Ice Cube, are all in talks to return as Schmidt, Jenko, and Captain Dickson.

Channing Tatum praises the Men in Black/Jump Street movie that never happened.. but says it still might

Also returning are producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who directed the first two movies, this time the movie will be directed by Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’s Rodney Rothman, who also wrote the movie with Hill and Meghan Malloy.

This is not the first time we almost got a third Jump Street movie, as fans will recall that in 2016, a Men In Black/Jump Street crossover was officially named MIB 23 (here). It had been in production hell for a long time before that official title reveal, and then, well, it never happened.

In 2022 Channing Tatum was asked about the crossover and told by the interviewer that they really wish it had happened; Tatum’s reply was a heartfelt one: “You’re preaching to the choir, man.

“I still think it could work, I really do. And if Sony would ever really, like, I think do the hard work and figure out the producer problems that are inherent with that film, I think we can still do it. But right now, I don’t know why, they’re just not motivated to do it. It’s a big overhead on that movie, so.”

CONFIRMED: Lord and Miller WERE set to direct Chris Pratt and Channing Tatum Ghostbusters project!

Not only that, but it seems Tatum has read the script and was very, very impressed, saying it was “by and away the best third sequel to any franchise that I’ve ever read, in my entire life.”

In 2016, we were waiting for Ghostbusters: Answer the Call to get released, and there were talks of a Ghostbusters multiverse happening with the ladies meeting the original team, and many, myself included, believed that the Jump Street/Men in Black crossover would eventually lead to a Ghostbusters crossover too. Alas, it was never to be.

Wait…

Hold on…

What if it DID happen and the Men in black got us with their neuralyzer! Maybe that is why this one is called 24 Jump Street!

Just kidding. Probably.

Anyways, I’m looking forward to this one already are you?

Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all.
