No real shock here but Adam McKay has confirmed that he will return for the Marvel sequel, Ant-man and the Wasp.

The writer/director seems delighted to be back too: “We’ve been talking to Marvel actually,” McKay said to Comingsoon.

“We just talked to them the other day, and it looks like I will be involved. I don’t know if it’s gonna be right from page one. But it looks like I will definitely be involved. There you go. There’s a little headline for the fanboys!”

The script is being written by Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari, who worked on ant-man with Paul Rudd. McKay will add to the story after the current draft.

Paul Rudd will return as Scott Lang with Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym in the film. Peyton Reed will return to direct the film.

The reuniting of all the team again is very encouraging and McKay is excited to bring the focus more on to Hope and her alter-ego, Wasp: “That was one of the things that was important to me in the first movie when I came on was emphasizing the Wasp more, both Hope Van Dyne and Janet Van Dyne.

“It’s a crucial part. It’s a crucial part because in the comic books, with the exception of the first handful of Ant-Man stories, Wasp came on pretty early on in the comics in the ’60s and you really thought of them as a partnership, a romantic partnership as well as a hero team. It’s going to be fun to play around with all the aspects of that in this movie.”

Ant-Man and The Wasp is set for release on July 6th, 2018.
