While we reported a few days ago that Ben Affleck, with the help of Geoff Johns, will have full control over the Batman movie he’s writing, directing and starring in at Warners (here), we didn’t think there’d be much more new for a while.

However, now it seems there’s some very big news indeed.

While most comic movies feature a bad guy or two, and a lot of the chatter was that this new movie would focus on Joker and Jason Todd returning from the grave as Red Hood, now it seems that the movie will be much more adventurous.

BMD are reporting: “Many, if not most, members of Batman’s rogue’s gallery will be making appearances in the film. It’s going to be crammed with Bat villains, which means that just about every major bad guy you’ve ever wanted to see in a movie will be in this movie.

“According to my sources Affleck and Geoff Johns, who has been working with him on the film, want to make the definitive Batman film. They want to tell the ultimate Batman story, and to do so they’re going to bring in all the big guns. They’re going to have a big, sprawling Bat universe already in place.”

Now, this could happen a few ways.

We may see Batman in Arkham Asylum, where many of the villains may show up incarcerated – i.e. The Killing Joke or, em, Arkham Asylum.

Or…

We could see the villains all play apart in the story ala Hush or The Long Halloween (please, please, please be The Long Halloween! And don’t forget a resurrected Jason Todd plays a role of sorts in Hush), either way, given how Batman V Superman worked and the way in which Suicide Squad is shaping up, we can certainly see this being on the money. After all, is there anyone who doesn’t know Penguin, Joker, Riddler or Catwoman? Or even Bane or Manbat? We think this could open a door to a bigger world in a fast but very fun way.

Plus, the casting news in the coming months or years should be epic.

We’ll keep you posted if we hear more, but we hope there’s something to this and with Affleck and Johns at the helm, we’d be lying if we said we weren’t excited too…
