After three Christmas Star Wars releases, is the Han Solo movie now also set for a Christmas release?

So in case you missed it, the Han Solo movie was set for May 2018 which, let’s be honest, we all thought was unlikely as The Force Awakens and Rogue One both landed at Christmas time and, despite being reluctant at the start, we’ve sorted got used to now and actually find that Star Wars and Christmas make very good bedfellows.

Screenrant are currently running an article on Rogue One’s massive success along with The Force Awakens’ and at the end of the article (link below) they add:

“The combined performances of The Force Awakens and Rogue One illustrate Disney was smart to shift this year’s Star Wars: Episode VIII from May to December, where they should be able to replicate this success.

“Interestingly, over the holiday, our sources in the theater industry have received a release date of December 13th, 2018 for Star Wars: Han Solo. We are not saying the release date has changed but it could signify that a release date shift for Star Wars: Han Solo is in the works. The paperwork states the release date is subject to change for Han Solo.

“Star Wars: Han Solo’s official release date is May 25th, 2018. The rumored release date change is December 13th, 2018.”

With Episode VIII set for this Christmas (can’t believe I just wrote that) if Han Solo stayed at May it would mean that we would have two Star Wars movies six months apart and then it would be the studio’s decision to stick with Christmas or go back to the original Star Wars slot, pre-Disney, of May.

Personally, three movies in, I reckon Disney/Lucasfilm would be silly to move the movies to May again… unless we start getting two Star Wars movies a year.

Now there’s a thought.

Consider this all speculation for now, but there’s rarely smoke without fire.
