Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!
Oh man… remember in 2015 Winona Ryder confirmed a Beetlejuice sequel (here)? Then Director Tim Burton revealed he wanted to make it but things had to be EXACTLY right (here)? And then in 2016 star Michael Keaton said that the time for a Beetlejuice sequel had passed (here)?
Yeah, well forget all that…
Because Beetlejuice 2 is now a go at Warner Bros with Burton and Keaton both reportedly ‘excited’ at the thought of getting back together for the sequel (they are both working on Disney’s Dumbo at the minute) but with neither officially attached yet. So yes, this COULD conceivably be a full reboot for the bio-exorcist.
The movie will be (re)wrote by Rememory and Marvel’s Runaways writer Mike Vukadinovich and will be produced by Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg.
Beetlejuice was released in 1988 and say Burton and Keaton working together, paving the way for their Batman movie the following year. It still holds up well and, despite being a moderate hit in the day, has a massive following and fan base. The dark humour and fantastic Danny Elfman score pretty much became the template for the career of Burton for the next (almost) three decades… but the original is still the best.
Would you like to see the return of Keaton’s ghost with the most after all these years? Let us know…
