Jeremy Irons has promised an ‘extraordinary’ performance from Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne in the highly-anticipated superhero movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
In an interview yesterday with Screen Rant (via Squareeyed), Irons said: “He’s extraordinary. Quite extraordinary. And Zack Snyder, the director, fantastic vision. And I think the public have a great treat in store.”
Affleck was cast by director Zack Snyder and the initial reaction was mixed but the tide has turned from what Batman fans have seen of him as the Caped Crusader in trailers and images – they’re convinced he may be the greatest ever.
Snyder told People in January why Affleck was the winner: “You know he’s got the chin for it. Casting Ben felt like a no-brainer to me. I know that there was some backlash, but he’s just so perfect to me, especially in his size and his age.”
However, apparently Affleck himself wasn’t sure about his casting, as he told EW in July last year: “My first reaction was, ‘Are you sure?’ At the time I was 40, 41, and had just finished Argo, and I felt like ‘This seems like a strange way to get to Batman.’”
Are you excited to see Ben Affleck as Batman? Don’t be silly, of course you are! You don’t have much longer to wait as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in cinemas on March 25.
In related news, two new Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice movie tie-in books were released yesterday – Guide to the Caped Crusader/Guide to the Man of Steel: Movie Flip Book – and now a ton of brand new images have appeared online. Check them out below.
