Benedict Cumberbatch Joins The Jungle Book: Origins

August 21st, 2014 by Andrew McCarroll Comments

Having already voiced a wolf, a dragon and ehhh Alan Rickman in an episode of The Simpsons. Benedict Cumberbatch is now turning his dulcet tones to the villainous tiger Shere Khan in ‘Jungle Book: Origins’

“But wait” I hear you cry, “wasn’t Idris Elba just cast in that role?” and you would be right as Warner and Disney are ready to go full Dante’s Peak vs. Volcano, Deep Impact Vs. Armageddon, Micheal Bay Vs. basic human decency. With the Rudyard Kipling classic now in the public domain, the fight to be the king of the Jungle(book movies) is in full swing(last one I promise)

Andy Serkis will be making his directorial debut with the project and is assembling a fine cast. But with Disney releasing their version a year earlier will audience’s still have an appetite for a similar movie? As with rival movies like this there is always a winner and a loser. Who are you backing to emerge as the definitive chapter in The Jungle Book? (I lied)

Andrew McCarroll never quite built on the dizzying career heights that he hit at 6 years old, when as a member of the “Ghostbusters” he would charge his neighbours to remove any unwanted spectres. Now retired from slaying spooks, he spends his time obsessing over superheroes (especially Batman) and devouring shows like Dexter, Game of Thrones and Archer in a manner that would make Galactus proud.
