Birds of Prey movie casts its Victor Zsasz

December 23rd, 2018 by Marc Comments

With Ewan McGregor filling out DC’s brilliant cast as the villainous Black Mask, we have another classic villain from Batman’s Rogue Gallery on board now too.

Co-created by Norm Breyfogle in the 1990s, Victor Zsasz is a serial killer who keeps tallys all over his body of the people he kills – in his original inception he also had an ability to glamour people, making them think the were seeing someone – anyone – other than a murderer, but that ability seems to be forgotten about in recent years.

Anyway, sharp Objects star Chris Messina has joined Warner Bros/DC’s Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) in the role and will work for McGregor’s Black Mask. Cathy Yan is directing from Christina Hodson’s screenplay.

Zsasz appeared briefly in Batman Begins and is a prominent villain in the Gotham TV series but hopefully we’ll she his character fully embraced on the big screen.

The cast also incudeds Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary.

Also cast, although with their roles under wraps at the minute, are Steven Williams (The Chi), Derek Wilson, Dana Lee (Dr. Ken), Francois Chau (The Expanse, The Tick), Matthew Willig (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs) as Ali Wong as a cop on Montoya’s force and Robert Cartrini in a mysterious role.

Sue Kroll is producing Birds of Prey through her Kroll & Co. label
with Margot Robbie and Bryan Unkeless.

Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) opens on February 7, 2020.

He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer.
