Black Widow Writer Releases Potential Script Pages

November 6th, 2014 by Andrew McCarroll Comments

With Black Widow and guy playing Galaga as the only people yet to get their own Marvel movie or spin off show. Nathan Edmondson, who writes the fantastic Black Widow comic for Marvel, has taken matters into his own hands. He has posted on his site the first six pages of a Black Widow screenplay. Set in Berlin the brief opener sees the spy infiltrating the Penthouse of a Drug smuggler named Beringer, Natasha Romanoff is at one point disguised as an elderly woman. The script ends with a nice nod to her characters history in the Avengers movie before Edmondson finishes with a call for someone else to finish the script.

This is at least the third effort to start a Black Widow script following a treatment by Guardians Of The Galaxy writer Nicole Perlman and a full-length script by X-Men writer David Hayter it is doubtful this effort will lead to a stand-alone movie for Scarlett Johansson’s character. Recently Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, cooled talk of a Black Widow franchise by saying;

“It’s about bringing new characters to the screen. Black Widow couldn’t be more important as an Avenger, herself. And like Hulk, the Avengers films will be the films where they play a primary role. Her part in Avengers: Age of Ultron is very, very big. And further develops and further enhances her character. The plans that we have for her throughout the rest of the Avengers saga is very, very big, and linchpin, in fact, to those films. So instead of taking her out [of] there, or instead of doing a prequel, which we haven’t done yet, [we’re] continuing the forward momentum of the continuity of the cinematic universe of which Widow is a key, key part.”

Andrew McCarroll never quite built on the dizzying career heights that he hit at 6 years old, when as a member of the “Ghostbusters” he would charge his neighbours to remove any unwanted spectres. Now retired from slaying spooks, he spends his time obsessing over superheroes (especially Batman) and devouring shows like Dexter, Game of Thrones and Archer in a manner that would make Galactus proud.
