I loved The Blair Witch Project. Seriously. I was there first time around, before all the hype hit and no one knew what to make of the movie. I was there and I loved it.

And now it seems that  Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez’s 1999 creepy classic may be getting the sequel it deserves. Yes, we know there was Book Of Shadows but have you seen it!? It was rushed into production to capitalise on the first movie’s success and consequently was totally dire – I remember a friend saw it on a preview and didn’t tell me because they didn’t want to be the one to tell me just how dire it truly was.

But don’t despair Blair Witch fans, the mythology may get  a more respectful follow up after all according to one of the duo of creator, Eduardo Sanchez. Talking to Dread Central about his new – and reportedly quite good found footage movie Exists – Sanchez was asked if the witch would ever return and his reply was quite enthusiastic: “We have been talking to Lionsgate and there has been a little bit of movement but nothing is concrete. The film seems inevitable to me, but really it’s just a matter of it being the right time. I’m thinking it’s going to happen sooner than later at this point, but I always say that. There’s always rumblings and certain ideas being pushed around and such. While I don’t have anything firm to talk about now, it wouldn’t surprise me if something happened within the next year or two.”

If it can recapture the magic of the original then we welcome it with open arms…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
