While we’re really excited for Suicide Squad here at FTN, we’re really looking forward to see ing more of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn…
And it seems the suits at Warner Bros feel the same as it seems a spin-off from Suicide Squad has been green lit with Harley front and centre along with several of the DC ladies… Batgirl has been mentioned and we’re hearing names like Poison Ivy and Catwoman so, throw in Huntress and we guess you’re well on the way to a DC movie version of Birds of Prey.
And that’s just fine with us.
Robbie will also produce the movie. We’re also hearing a writer is on board but it’s all very hush hush. Pardon the pun.
“Sources say that Robbie was the impetus for the project, adding that when she got the part for the movie, she dove deep into the comics to learn as much as possible about the character. In the process, she fell for DC’s female characters. She brought on the writer to help develop the project and brought it to Warners, which snapped it up.”
We think this is a smart move for DC/Warners as everyone is already talking about Robbie as Harley, and a female centric comicbook movie sounds like it’s just the injection the genre needs.
