BREAKING: Edgar Wright walks from Ant-man at Marvel

May 23rd, 2014 by Marc Comments

OK, we have no idea what happened – though we are devastated – this has been Edgar Wright’s baby for as long as Marvel have been making their own movies…

However, Marvel and Wright have just released the following statement:

Marvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that the studio and director have parted ways on Ant-Man due to differences in their vision of the film. The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.

Ok, we’re in shock, many of us at FTN HQ were looking forward to this more than any other Marvel movie.

We’ll let you know more as we hear it, guys…

Edgar Wright was directing Ant-Man from a script that he has co-written with Joe Cornish (Attack the Block).
So far it stars Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd as Hank Pym and Scott Lang, respectively.
The rest of the cast includes Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena and Patrick Wilson.
The film, which will launch Marvel’s Phase Three, will hit theaters on July 17th, 2015.

UPDATE: FIND OUT WHY EDGAR LEFT HERE (RUMOUR)

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
