So, with all the reports of Paramount looking to create a wider universe populated by Transformers, we figured that the rumoured Cybertron movie was only the beginning.

And it seems we were right.

Now Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner, talking at the Global Consumer Conference, mentioned that everyone’s favourite Yellow VW, sorry, Camaro, might be set for a solo adventure: “As we go forward, we would imagine several more Transformers Movies. Not just in the current lineage but also spinoffs and focusing on certain key characters that are beloved by the world over. Many of you know Bumblebee; the yellow Camaro… formally known as a yellow VW Bug. He is a beloved character by kids all over the world. We could see stories told around Bumblebee and other characters. We are in a process of building the brand equity around the comic book business, our TV Business, our digital gaming business and adding to that our new movie business of Transformers.”

So, TV, games and movies all set around the Transformers story? Well, in principal we’re ok with it but with the last movie already feeling very stale, a very radical rethink will be needed and with Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), Art Marcum, Matt Holloway (Iron Man), Jeff Pinkner (Fringe), Zak Penn (X-Men: The Last Stand), Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari (both Ant-Man) all in the writers’ room we’d be optimistic that the best is hopefully still to come.

What about you guys?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
