Mario Kassar, the Carolco producer responsible for Terminator 2 and Total Recall, is once again heading into the territory of sci-fi and AI.
Carolco was pretty much extinct for the last 20 years or so, but now Kassar and new CEOAlex Bafer are bringing it back with a new, as they put it “Terminator-type sci-fi summer blockbuster” called Bot.
Kassar said: “BOT’s the kind of movie I used to produce in the old days of Carolco. A big, action kind of [film]. It’s a little bit futuristic, but not set too much into the future – I don’t want huge flying space craft , or whatever. It’s set, maybe, 10 or 20 years or so from now. It has nano-technology in it, and good guys and bad guys. It’s a very humane, interesting story.”
The plot revolves around 100 identical children who are born with incredible intellects and who eventually take over earth which leads to the enslavement of the human race by nano robots.
The concept art above is by Josh Nizzi, the artist behind The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the Transformers films.
A sci-fi blockbuster that’s not a reboot, adaptation or sequel? Well, that’s certainly different…
