Chris Hemsworth assures us he’s not quitting as Thor anytime soon

If you’re a fan of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the MCU and, with the departure of Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jnr as Captain America and Iron Man after Avengers Endgame, you fear his days are numbered, then I have good news for you.

We know that Natalie Portman is set to become Thor in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder but, despite how it might look, this will likely not be the end of the God of Thunder we know and love.

In a new interview Hemsworth is asked if he’s set to give up is Asgardian crown but, thankfully, the star seems keen to hold on to the royal blood: “Are you crazy?! I’m not going into any retirement period,” he laughs.

“Thor is way too young for that. I’m only 1,500 years old! It is definitely not a film that I say goodbye to this brand. At least I hope so.”

So, are you happy enough at that? Well, it seems that Love and Thunder is going to be a riot: “After reading the script, I can say that I am very excited,” Hemsworth goes on.

“For sure there will be a lot of love and a lot of lightning in this production. I’m glad that after all that happened in Avengers: Endgame, I’m still part of the Marvel Universe and we can continue the story of Thor. Of course, I can’t tell you anything about the plot, but to satisfy your curiosity, I’ll say that I had a lot more fun reading the script than on Thor Ragnarok, and that proves something because this movie was brilliant.”

So it seems that after the next Thor movie we’ll have two Thors in the MCU… what this means for the original one is anyone’s guess but it’s nice to know he plans on sticking around for another while.

What say you all? Are you glad to know at least one member of the original line-up intends on hanging around as Hawkeye and Hulk are looking like they’re getting replaced in their respective Disney+ shows (She-Hulk and Hawkeye) and it seems that Florence Pugh is set to be the new Black Widow moving forward too? Let me know your thoughts folks.
