Constantine star says a sequel is ‘in the works’

November 17th, 2020 by Marc Comments

We’ve known for a while that a Constantine sequel was talked about by star Keanu Reeves and director of the 2005 original movie Francis Lawrence (here) and then there were these rumours that Reeves was returning for a HBO Max series and now it seems there’s something to it all.

In the original movie Reeves’ paranormal investigator, based on the iconic DC/Vertigo character, stood off against Satan himself, played by the brilliant Peter Stormare and now Stormare has set tongues wagging with a new post on Instagram (below).

The actor posted an image of himself as Satan with “Sequel in the works” written beneath it. And with that, the internet began to meltdown.

While Reeves’ John Constantine bore little resemblance to the one on the page, the star’s performance managed to make its way into people’s hearts and even the most hardcore Constantine fans seem to have come around to liking what is actually a pretty great movie, so this news is, as you can imagine, very welcome.

I’d imagine that DC’s new exploration of the multiverse on the big and small screen, has opened doors to more and more projects like this – with Keaton and Affleck both returning as Batman, there’s no reason in the world that reeves can’t put the ol’ trenchcoat on again… to stand against Stormare’s crazy brand of evil.

Personally, I’m a big fan of the original and actually watched it a few months ago and massively enjoyed it all over again, so I’ll be hoping this comes true with open arms.

What about you all? You ok with this idea? I wanna hear it all…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
