Get ready for the new daily show

Could we see Tom Cruise playing Tony Stark/Iron Man in the MCU after all?

You may recall that before Robert Downey Jnr played Tony Stark/Iron Man, Tom Cruise seemed to be the choice for the gig. However, as we all know, Downey Jnr got the role and the rest, as they say, is now history.

However, in the era we live, where childhood dreams seem to be set to become reality on an almost daily basis, it seems there’s still a chance that we may yet see Cruise in the red and gold armour.

In our last story we reported that we may yet see Nicholac Cage in the role of Superman, having come VERY close to playing him in the 90s, in the new Flash movie (here) where Barry Allen/The Flash runs between universes and meets DC heroes that existed and could have existed.

Well, it seems that Marvel too are planning on going down a similar route. Much like when Batman V Superman and Captain America: Civil War shared similar tropes.

After the time heist element of Avengers: Endgame introduced the idea of alternate futures and pasts, it seems Marvel’s Phase 4 is set to develop that notion with 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, presumably kicking it all off in the WandaVision series on Disney+ (here).

Word is the movie will see Doctor Strange, using his Time Stone and his own inate abilities, will travel through worlds and realities, meeting several versions of himself – not all played by Benedict Cumberbatch – and, most interestingly, different versions of familiar characters from the MCU.

So basically, remember all the different versions of Spider-man in Into the Spider-verse? Well, it’s that in live-action, with Tom Cruise reportedly being sought to be an alternate version of Stark/Iron Man.

This, if true, could be a massive scoop for Marvel, and would certainly possibly see them set up to rival the excitement of Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck both returning as Batman in the Flashh movies. Whatever comes of it all, it looks like we, the audience, will be the winners.

Let me know your thoughts, gang.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to release in cinemas on March 25th, 2022.
