Dammit! The Rock just threw Armie Hammer’s name into the ring for a DC character (who’s not Green Lantern)

Dammit, Johnson!

We’re just getting over the whole ‘Armie Hammer must be playing Green Lantern in the DC Universe‘ debate and then along comes Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to stir things up in a new, but familiar way.

Speaking to Collider about finding the DC Hero Shazam for the big screen – The Rock is playing Black Adam, Shazam’s nemesis in the movie – Johnson said:

“I’m gonna throw one name out here and I wanna see how the fans are gonna react ot this. A guy who I met, after I met him I was like, ‘Man that guy’s such a cool guy, he’s a lot bigger than I thought he would be.’ And when I walked away I remember telling our who I’ve worked with for a long time, Hiram Garcia—we both looked at each other and were like, ‘Possibly Shazam?’ I’m not even gonna tell you his name, I’m just gonna say Lone Ranger [and yes, that’s Armie Hammer].

“You could see that right? I don’t know if he’s interested, and by the way, the studio doesn’t even know that we’ve been having these conversations. I just remember meeting him and walking away going, ‘Man that guy would look great I bet as Shazam’—and by the way he’s one of a handful [of names].”

Now, he was quick to say that none of this is official, it’s just talk among actors, but we know that the internet is going to go wild over this.

So what do you think? Can you see it or would you prefer Hammer for Green Lantern?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
