Dan Aykroyd calls Ghostbusters: Afterlife ‘exhilarating’ after watching it

May 8th, 2021 by Marc Comments

We learned in February that Ghostbusters star Ernie Hudson has seen Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife (here), later, he said of the movie: “Yes, the smile in this picture is genuine. #Ghostbustersafterlife is so good, that I was speechless!” and that had us pretty excited, having interviewed Hudson ourselves (below) and knowing his love for the franchise is real.

We also reported that Hudson felt the movie finally made his character, Winston Zeddemore, a “complete character” (here).

And now we have more exciting news from an original star.

Dan Aykroyd, creator of the franchise and Dr Ray Stantz from the first two movies, has seen the movie and he loves it… and, unlike the praise for Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, this time the love feels genuine and we doubt after this movie, he’ll have to say he fears the franchise is ruined (here).

The star took to social media to share an image of him holding up a glass of his Crystal Head Vodka, saying: “Opening and sharing a case of Crystal Head Vodka with family and friends to celebrate Ghostbusters Afterlie.”

He does on to call it “exhilarating”, saying of Jason Reitman that it “Shows the work of a true master”, adding: “Cheers, Jason! From all of us here at Crystal Head H.Q. in Toronto.”

I get the feeling that Aykroyd – and Hudson – really feel this movie is what fans have waited for since 1989’s Ghostbusters II and that their excitement is completely genuine. Having them star in the movie too may be an incentive… but I feel there’s more than that here..

Ghostbusters: Afterlife hits theaters on November 11th, 2021 and we’re pacing. The. Damned. Floors.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
