It looks like Daniel Craig may not be returning to the sequel to the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, despite being one of the central characters…
Yes, Sony are intending in making the next to chapters in the Stieg Larsson Millenium trilogy – The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest. However, despite the first movie costing $90 to make and taking $223 at the box office, they are afraid that Craig – who’s asking price has risen after the massive success of Skyfall – is now too expensive to put in the next movie.
Director of the first movie David Fincher is now wrapped up in Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl so won’t be returning, and now Sony want to cut serious costs before they finish the trilogy and Daniel Craig is top of the list to be severed. Which will be bizarre since his character Mikael Blomqvist plays a very big role in the story.
Sony are confident they have found a way to cut him out, but we feel this will be the kiss of death to the trilogy which started out pretty strongly…
