Danny Elfman back to score Beetlejuice sequel

May 5th, 2023 by Marc Comments

We’ve known for a while now that Beetlejuice 2 is finally happening and it really looks like the whole gang are returning.

We reported a while back that Wednesday and Scream star Jenna Ortega will star in the sequel with Micheal Keaton returning as the Ghost with the Most under the direction of Tim Burton and now it seems one of the other most important elements of the Beetlejuice universe is back too.

In a new interview, composer Danny Elfman said he’s gearing to start working with Burton again for the supernatural sequel: “It’s perfect, you know? Everybody else has to play the next generation, except for Michael [Keaton]. I mean, he’s still like really fit and really active and really on it. And with the Beetlejuice makeup, I can’t even imagine it’s going to look like he’s changed practically at all. So, I can’t wait for that.”

He added: “That is very exciting, to return to that world.”

While there’s nothing confirmed yet, I’m hearing that Ortega will play the daughter of Lydia Deetz, played by Winona Ryder in the 1988 original and I’m also hearing that Ryder and the always amazing Catherine O’Hara are all but signed on… so I’m very hopeful and excited for this one.

And yes, Elfman is right, Keaton should look exactly the same under the make-up as the man still looks amazing for his age.

Now, say it with me, everyone: “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!”
