DC’s Black Adam movie has found its Hawkman

September 26th, 2020 by Marc Comments

We learned a few weeks back during DC Fandome that the Black Adam movie starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson would feature the Justice Society of America and among the team would be Hawkman.

And now we know that Leverage star Aldis Hodge is in talks to play the character of Carter Hall AKA Hawkman, a 1940s archeologist who a reincarnated Egyptian prince who was cursed and murdered by an evil priest and who is the airborne hero with wings made from alien metal.

We got our first look at how he will likely appear in the movie during DC Fandome:

Black Adam has also cast Noah Centineo as fellow JSA member Atom Smasher and will be directed by Jungle Cruise’s Jaume Collet-Serra. It is written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani and is technically a spin-off from Shazam!.

Hawkman, while not already featured in the DC movies, has already appeared in the Legends of Tomorrow TV series and in the Suicide Squad movie the main events took place in Midway City which, in the comics, is the home of Hawkman and Hawkgirl.

Hawkgirl will not be appearing in Black Adam, but it seems that the JSA have a future in the DCEU beyond one movie with producer Hiram Garcia saying: “We all have unified, giant ambitions for what we want to do with these characters and the JSA and all those new members we’re introducing from Hawkman to Atom Smasher to Cyclone and Doctor Fate. It’s an opportunity to put ourselves in the DC Universe, and really start to create a fun group of characters that audiences haven’t had the chance to see, but that a lot of them are familiar with.”

Are you excited to see Hawkman in the DCEU? Let me know all your thoughts, gang…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
